Diapers remain an overlooked area of need for low-income families struggling to get food on the table. HappyBottoms is the area’s only diaper bank and provides diapers more than 33 nonprofit agencies including low income childcare agencies and children homes.
Serve KC Volunteers help HappyBottoms sort and package diapers to be distributed on the 2nd Monday of each month. This is a great way to give back to the community, lower overhead for the nonprofit and help HappyBottoms distribute an average of 100,000 diapers a month!
We will be working in a warehouse so please dress casual for this event and no open-toed shoes are allowed inside. Water bottles are recommended!
Age Requirement: Children ages 12 and older are welcome to attend provided they are accompanied by an adult. 18+ always welcome.
Directions: HappyBottoms is located in a warehouse district. It’s entrance is on the far left of the building. When you enter straight back is a break room with a table. We will meet here.
Donate: HappyBottoms will always accept any diaper donations too so bring them with you when you come. Thanks for considering this opportunity to Serve Kansas City!
More about HappyBottoms: Cloth diapers aren’t an option for most families as childcare facilities require disposable diapers. Furthermore diapers are expensive and can’t be purchased through WIC or food stamps. HappyBottoms provides over 50,000 diapers each month which requires 250 hours from volunteers to help prepare. So the need is great and they have asked us for our help.
