The Kansas City Invitational Relays, or KCI Relays, is a track and field contest for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18. The meet was originally organized in the late 1970s to provide youth in residential treatment centers the chance to experience the kinds of activities that other kids in public schools enjoyed. Many children from Spofford Home (a campus of Cornerstone of Care) will participate in this fun event.
Volunteer will be working in groups at different event stations. Example of events stations: Softball throw: Recorders, Measures, Ball Retrieval; Frisbee throw: Recorders, Measures, Frisbee Retrieval; Shotput: Recorders, Measures; Running Long Jump: Recorders; Computer Positions.
**Note there is also a need to help with the 7 and under activities from 9 – 10:30am.
If you can only work a partial day, please indicate your available range of time in the comment area.
Parking: There is always plenty of parking by the football field at Center High School.
Lunch and water: Volunteers need to bring their own lunch and water. It is recommended that you keep you lunch in the car. Volunteers will want to keep their water with them during the event. ( I recommend leaving purses and valuables locked in your car as there is no place to leave them securely.)
Dress Code: Appropriate dress would be to wear what you would wear to participate at a track and field event.
***WEATHER ALERT *** Before heading out the door, if it looks like we might get rained out check this site to see if the event has been cancelled. I will also notifiy volunteers via email.
Waitlist: If an event is full volunteers can join the waitlist. If a spot opens up, you are automatically added to the attending list in the order you joined the waitlist. Please remove yourself from the waitlist if you make other plans so the next available person can join in the event of a last minute cancellation.
