Serve KC volunteers will assist people finding the luminary bearing the name of a loved one, light luminaries, and help to clean up the park after the event.
We will meet at the volunteer check-in table, please find the Event Host, Joel, for instructions.
Please wear nice casual clothes in which you can sit on the ground. The ceremony begins at 8:00 pm, but volunteers are needed to help cleanup afterwards so please plan to stay the entire time.
About the Event: The annual Circle of Light ceremony is to remember our loved ones. The event takes place at dusk at the J.C. Nichols Fountain on the Country Club Plaza.
The words and music of a nondenominational ceremony offer peace and solace as we remember those who have touched our lives. Participants light the candles in luminary bags, which bear the names of those they are honoring.
Circle of Lights helps fund the mission of KC Hospice &Palliative Care – to provide care for patients and families with limited financial resources who are facing life-limiting illnesses. In addition, donations help provide grief support services, spiritual support, art and music therapy, and other services that may not be reimbursed by insurance.
***WEATHER ALERT *** Before heading out the door to go to the Plaza, if it is looking like we might get rained out, feel free to call me at 913-461-5477. If it’s just a few sprinkles, Hospice may go ahead and have the event if it looks like it may clear up. I will also post to this site if it is cancelled.
