Collect clothing donations at the Kansas City Marathon for Goodwill

Goodwill is partnering with the Kansas City Marathon this year! Runners shed layers of clothing as they race and Goodwill will be collecting those items. It’s a perfect match: the City doesn’t need to dump these items in a landfill, plus Goodwill can sell them in our stores to fund our mission to empower people with disadvantages and different abilities to earn and keep employment. Get involved to support racers, sustainability, and local job seekers all at the same time!

Role: Pick up discarded clothing items on the race track after all runners have passed. We are not walking the whole course, just collecting at the starting line and the first two rest points. Timing: We will start collecting clothing at the starting line after all runners have passed. This will likely be around 7:30 or so, however, we ask volunteers to arrive around 6:30 due to how crowded it will be. You bring: Nothing. Cart and gloves, as well as breakfast, will be provided.

Wear: Close-toed shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather, as we will be outside.

Age: All ages welcome, though volunteers under 16 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. And, you’ll get a fun Goodwill T-shirt!
