Help Make a Food Forest in East KC

An East KC community project south of the KC Zoo needs your help. You can join in making a safe public walking trail where edibles grow and the peace of nature calms nerves.

In one of Kansas City’s food deserts, where nearly half of the residents live in poverty, there is a breathtaking vacant lot with potential to change the future. This summer, the team at Clement Waters is restoring a forested 4 acres to be a place where people learn “green” lifestyle choices that improve health and relieve hardship. Their focus this summer is getting the forest completely safe for public visitors, and easily maintainable by way of appropriate storage facilities. The perfect volunteer partners will enjoy technical projects, the great outdoors, and/or gardening.
