Homeless Camp Spring Cleanup

Volunteers from Serve KC will join the Salvation Army and two other local nonprofits to clean up the homeless camps in the KC Metro. Last year volunteers collected more than 700 bags of trash at this event, helped clean up the city and give a little dignity to the people living in these camps.

We’ll meet at the Salvation Army Warehouse for sign in and breakfast, then split into smaller groups, carpool to the camps, and bag up trash for the city to pickup. Registration & breakfast is from 7:30-8:30 am with biscuits & gravy, donuts and coffee.

Attire: Weather appropriate outdoor work clothes, sturdy shoes (nothing open toe) and layers. Bring Work gloves! Latex gloves will be supplied.

Ages: 12-18 with parent. Please do not bring children under 12.

Food: Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.

Bring:  If you have work gloves and/or leaf rake, you may want to bring those with you. A trash stick or pick would also be great to bring if you have one.

When you Arrive: Sign in at the Salvation Army Table, then look for our Serve KC group. Instructions on how to find us will be posted prior to the event

Stay with the Group!  We will drive together from the Salvation Army lot to the camps, this is not one big camp, but multiple places near the river and north of city market area. Serve KC may be split into smaller groups, but we want you to look out for each other and be sure to tell one of the Event Hosts if you need to leave early. This if for your safety and will ensure we can participate in future events of this nature.

Gifts of time are always appreciated at The Salvation Army.
