KVC Kansas (KVC Behavioral Healthcare, Inc.) represents one of the strongest and broadest child welfare and behavioral healthcare continuums in the nation. They are responsible for the care of all children served by the Kansas Department for Children and Families’ Kansas City Metro and Eastern Regions, which includes 30 counties and more than half of all children in the child welfare system.
KVC provides ongoing case management, therapy, family education and support, transportation and aftercare services, impacting thousands of children and family members each day.
In preparation for the 2017-18 school year, KVC has been hosting a summer school supplies drive to ensure that each child in our care is fully prepared when they return to school in the fall. Over the summer months hundreds of new backpacks, pens, pencils, calculators, binders and more have been donated to your local KVC office!
Now that the supplies are in, KVC needs volunteers to help sort and prepare the supplies for the foster care families to come pick up. Volunteers will take off packaging from supplies and sort items into containers/boxes of like items. This organizing will help streamline the process of finding items on each individual child’s school supplies list..
Volunteers will meet Ariel and Lauren at KVC office when they arrive. There is plenty of parking the KVC lot. From there, volunteers will work alongside other community volunteers with moving and sorting supplies in the ballroom.
Youth volunteers (5 years of age and old) are welcome to attend this opportunity. Dress is casual. Closed toe shoes are recommended to avoid injury when moving boxes of supplies.
