POP-UP EVENT!! We have a special need for volunteers this Labor Day Monday to pack relief supplies to send to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Our group will help from 11am-Noon. Hygiene kits include essential items such as toothpaste, washcloth, soap, and shampoo, which are critical to help keep people healthy and prevent the spread of illness.
DONATIONS: The need for medical supplies is critical during this time and Heart to Heart is asking for a $20 donation. Please give if, and what, you can. If you can not attend, but want to donate please visit the HHI website.
REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer independently. Youth are encouraged to volunteer, but require parental supervision. Please wear comfortable closed toe shoes and clothing appropriate for warehouse work.
The warehouse does NOT have air conditioning but fans will be running and there is plenty of cold water for volunteers. Various warehouse activities may include lifting, standing, walking, assembling hygiene kits. We can accommodate requests if certain activities do not fit with an individual, including sitting activities.
LIMITS: 20 volunteers, 1 guest per Serve KC member please.
Heart to Heart International provides medical aid on a global scale, but their distribution center is right here in Kansas City and they need volunteers to ensure aid is shipped to people in crisis all of the world. Heart to Heart was established in 1992 and provides humanitarian service in 130 countries, shipping over $1.5 billion in aid and logging 1.1 million volunteer hours.
RSVP: If an event is full, join the waitlist. If a spot opens up, you are automatically added to the attending list in the order you joined the waitlist. Please do not ask others to give up their spot, be courteous and update your RSVP if you can no longer attend. Do not be a no show.
