KC Chief , Dontari Poe, started Poe Man’s Dream Foundation to give back to the community and support local youth. The mission of Poe Man’s Dream Foundation is to gives under-served kids opportunities to succeed by providing them with resources and mentorship.
The Poe Man’s Dream Foundation is bringing startup culture to youth in the Kansas City area. There are 8 companies that will partner with area students and the goal is to teach the students how to “pitch” their company. The students will team up to present to the judges in the fashion of Shark Tank, who will then select the winner. The judges of the completion will include Kansas City Tech luminaries, Dontari Poe and a Harlem Globetrotter. (Dontari may even bring out some of his teammates!)
Students and Entrepreneurs will arrive at 2pm to prepare for the competition. The event starts at 6pm. Serve KC volunteers are needed at 5pm for brief training on volunteer duties, a brief orientation of the foundation and time to eat prior to the event. In addition, Serve KC volunteers will be given 1 drink ticket.
Serve KC volunteers will assist with check-in, silent auction and raffle tickets.
