Project Shine: M.E. Pearson Elementary School Classroom Painting Day

On Saturday, July 29, we have a wonderful opportunity for our community to rally together to paint classrooms and brighten up M.E. Pearson Elementary School for a fresh start to the new school year. Please come be a part of Project Shine from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and spread the word of this Serve Day to members of your church or organization as well as friends and family. Dr. Cynthia Lane, Superintendent of Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, will welcome all volunteers at a light breakfast and a few simple instructions will be provided. Lunch also will be served, and water will be available throughout the day. Approximately 100 painters (age 16 and older) are needed to paint classrooms and a few small hallway areas. If you are a skilled painter who is willing to help supervise the painters of 3 to 4 classrooms, please note this when signing up. All painting supplies will be provided.

This is an extraordinary invitation for the community to come together to make M.E. Pearson SHINE and to make incoming students and teachers feel valued and appreciated. Other Caring for Kids members serving KCK schools also are being invited to serve.

Additional Info: Volunteers should wear clothing and closed toe shoes that they don’t mind getting paint on and parking is available in two lots surrounding the school

Emily will meet volunteers at the orientation breakfast prior starting the days painting project
