Relay for Life a community event for the American Cancer Society

Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers to bring communities together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer.

Funds raised from Relay for Life events help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, critical patient care services, education and prevention initiatives, and so much more. Each person who joins Relay for Life can take pride in knowing that they are working towards creating a world free from the pain and suffering of this disease.

Serve KC Volunteers will monitor the silent auction tables, answer questions, encourage people to bid on items and interact with guests. At the close of the silent auction, volunteers will move items to the check out area for pick-up by the winning bidders.

Dress in casual clothing that is appropriate for the weather. This is an outdoor event. Volunteers are asked to wear closed toe shoes as well.

Children 13yrs + are welcomed under your supervision.

Volunteers may want to bring bottle water.  In addition, we recommend leaving purses and valuables locked in your car as there is no place to leave them securely.

***WEATHER ALERT ***  Before heading out the door, if it is looking like we might get rained out, feel free to call Judy Maynard, Volunteer Coordinator, at 816-392-1262 or contact Ian via Meet Up message. If it’s just a few sprinkles, Relay for Life will go ahead and have the event. Ian will also post to this site if Relay for Life cancels the event due to weather.

Waitlist: If an event is full volunteers can join the waitlist. If a spot opens up, you are automatically added to the attending list in the order you joined the waitlist. Please remove yourself from the waitlist if you make other plans so the next available person can join in the event of a last minute cancellation.
