***Kid Friendly Event*** Volunteers will set-up for the Pop Tab Pandemonium event then run a game booth during the event.
Group will meet in front of the Longfellow (LARGE) house. Part of the group will work directly with the RMH Staff to assist in moving items to the parking lot at the end of the block (family court lot) 1/2 block away for the event and setting-up and preparing for the event. Entire group then moves to monitoring a bean bag toss game and interacting with guests who bring pop tabs to donate.
***If anyone has child friendly yard games that can be played on cement, feel free to bring them or if you specialize in face painting, hair glam coloring (sprays), or anything else that might be fun, feel free to bring them. Please post a comment if you are bringing something.
***I recommend bringing a lawn or camp chair and a bottle of water. You are also welcome to bring snacks or a lunch as food is not being provided for volunteers. The event will happen rain or shine so please monitor the weather and dress appropriately.
The event is outside, free, family-friendly and lots of fun! There will be large bins in the parking lot and collect tabs all morning. Last year, RMH ended the morning with about 11 tons of tabs — that’s a lot, and quite a sight! Around the edge of the parking lot, there are games and activities for kids, fire trucks, SWAT team vehicles, monster trucks. Many of our families come out for the event. Some schools and individuals drive up to drop off their tabs curbside. Others park and walk to the event to turn in their tabs. It’s a very easy, fun atmosphere with kids having fun and learning about recycling and how community kids and families can help us serve the families and kids who stay with us.
