Sleepyhead Beds-Bed Distribution

Having a nice bed to sleep on is fairly standard for most families. Yet for others that simply isn’t doable, and children are left without a soft place to sleep. Sleepyhead Beds is looking to change that, but they need awesome volunteers like you!

On Saturday, May 18th, Sleepyhead Beds will be distributing beds to needy children and families across the city. You will help them load beds into/onto recipient family vehicles for them to take to their children. Working directly with the families in need, this is a great opportunity to directly see the work you do.

Work Description: Volunteers will carry about 250 beds to about 100 family’s vehicles. They are mostly twins and full size mattresses and box springs. Volunteers will always be in groups of 2, so that moving beds is not too strenuous. I can also get some people set up to organize sheets and pillows, which is much more relaxed. Age Limit is 18 and older or with a guardian. Young children can also help with sheets and pillows.

Dress Code: This is a warehouse atmosphere. Closed Toed shoes are required. Wear any clothes you will be comfortable in.

What to bring: They will have a cooler with water in it, but I would recommend bringing your own water bottle. Some people prefer to wear work gloves, but are not required.

Parking and personal items: There is plenty of street parking available on all sides of the warehouse. Though it is very busy on these Saturdays and I have never had an issue, I would recommend not leaving anything of value in your car. There is a break room where purses and other smaller items can be left.
