MADMINTON is KC’s annual badminton tournament benefiting Giving the Basics, which provides personal hygiene care products to those in need. Participants are encouraged to dress in crazy costumes and compete in both skill and attire.
Serve KC volunteers are needed to help with setup at 11am. There may be some heavy lifting involved, but there are also yard games that need to be setup. Please check-in with me (Selena) when you arrive to get instructions. If you have trouble finding me my cell is 816-582-7857.
Play begins at 2:00pm and volunteers are encouraged to stick around and cheer on the players. There are also additional shifts posted if you’d like to help out. If you’d like to brush up on your Badminton knowledge here’s a website with the Simplified Rules!
Giving the Basics provides products for dignity — deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, baby wipes, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. — that are not covered by government assistance; to people in need. Many of the local food pantries, shelters and schools benefit from the donations made to this nonprofit. Watch this Video to see the impact Giving the Basics is making in KC schools or visit their website for more information.
