Old Shawnee Days celebrates Shawnee’s history and community during this four-day celebration of music, games, rides, carnival snacks, historic re-enactments and more. During the celebration, thousands of people will turn out for the arts and crafts show, living history demonstrations, and fun carnival rides.
On Thursday June 2nd Serve KC volunteers will monitor the Handicapped and VIP parking lot. (3 volunteers stationed at the Handicapped lot and 3 volunteers at the VIP lot. The parking lots are close to each other.) Chairs and table will be provided, along with a canopy for shade. Volunteers will have a two-way radio, bottled water and map with general information about Old Shawnee Days.
Responsibilities include: Ensuring that only authorized vehicles enter and park in these lots and answering basic questions patrons may have about the event.
Attire: Wear clothes appropriate for an outdoor event and comfortable shoes. Although chairs will be provided there will still be a fair amount of standing / walking. A volunteer t-shirt will be provided.
Parking: There is parking available around the festival and along the street.
The festival runs until 10pm on Thursday June 2nd and is free to attend. There is a free concert, Phil Vandel (http://www.philvandel.com/) from 8:30pm – 9:45pm. If you want to stay for the concert leave a comment. Bring your lawn chair and we can all sit together!
