Project Warmth is the Salvation Army’s annual coat & blanket drive to help people in need during extremely cold weather. Volunteers are needed to unload 10 semi-trucks of donations, separate them into piles (women, men, children, ect.) and pack them into bags.
LOCATION UPDATE — 1146 Booth Street, Business Center 1B, KCK 66103
We’ll have a Serve KC sign to help you find our group since there will be other groups and individuals volunteering at this event. It gets pretty chaotic once the trucks arrive, but it’s a fun event and quite the workout.
Bring a water bottle, work gloves & wear comfortable clothing. This is a warehouse setting so CLOSED TOE shoes are a must! For those with allergies, you may want to bring a dust mask or bandanna. Pizza will be provided and volunteers will take dinner breaks in shifts.
Parking: Please park in the yellow areas (SEE MAP) only. Dean Realty has donated us the warehouse space. We do not want to disturb their paying tenant’s parking spaces. These businesses are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Thank you for being considerate.
Age Requirement: This is an activity for youth 12 and older with a guardian.
This event is our November #LoveLonger Project with 96.5 The Buzz listeners. Serve KC is partnering with The Buzz to offer monthly volunteer opportunities for the Buzz Family to join Serve KC and make a positive impact the greater Kansas City community. The #LoveLonger Project features a different nonprofit each month and is open to those willing to give time & heart to help others.
Project Warmth KC makes extreme weather months more bearable for thousands of Kansas City area residents with their annual Coat & Blanket Drive. All items collected are sorted and distributed through the Salvation Army, and given to more than 70 agencies and shelters in the metro area. This would be great time to clean out your closets and donate any extra coats and blankets that you don’t need. You can also take your donation to any Salvation Army administrative office (not one of their thrift stores) and tell them you have a Project Warmth KC donation.
