UPDATED – PARKING INFORMATION
Event will be at: Business Center 1B, 1146 Booth Street, KCS 66103.
Parking: Please park in the yellow areas (SEE MAP) only. Dean Realty has donated us the warehouse space. We do not want to disturb their paying tenant’s parking spaces. These businesses are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Thank you for being considerate.
***Pizza will be served for volunteers around 5pm, we recommend bringing a water bottle and you may want to wear light weight work gloves. CLOSED TOE Shoes are a must!
The Salvation Army needs volunteers to unload & sort 10-12 semi-trucks of donated coats and blankets for Project Warmth. We’ll separate items into piles (women, men, children, ect) and pack them into bags.
Come early to meet other Serve KC volunteers, since there will be other groups at this event and it gets pretty chaotic once the trucks arrive, but it’s a fun event. This is an activity for youth 12 and older, feel free to bring friends and family members to help. Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes.
Dinner and beverages will be provided.
LOCATION: Business Center 1B, 1146 Booth Street, KCK 66103
***Special Parking Instructions will be provided in a few days.
Project Warmth KC makes extreme weather months more bearable for thousands of Kansas City area residents with their annual Coat & Blanket Drive. In 2012 Project Warmth collected 7,660+ coats, 1,746+ blankets, 68 bags of hats, scarves & gloves, and more than $83,500.
All items collected are sorted and distributed through the Salvation Army, and given to approximately 75 agencies and shelters in the 8-county metropolitan area. This would be great time to clean out your closets and donate any extra coats and blankets that you don’t need. You can also take your donation to any Salvation Army administrative office (not one of their thrift stores) and tell them you have a Project Warmth KC donation.
