CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties is the current agency that supports child victims of abuse or neglect. As these children enter the court system, they may feel alone, frightened or unheard and CASA is there to reduce those concerns and help the children understand the process of court protection and supervision.
See their website at www.casajwc.org
CASA has asked Serve KC volunteers to peel and affix address labels onto postcards for an upcoming benefactor and supporter event. This MEETUP is our first with CASA with many more opportunities to serve in similar and varying capacities coming soon. For this MEETUP, we will be in the CASA offices and not interfacing with the children.
CASA is located at 5700 Broadmoor, Suite 201, in Mission, KS near Shawnee Mission North High School. Travel to Metcalf and Johnson Drive from anywhere in the city and proceed east one block to Broadmoor, turning left and going one block north to 5700 (posted in front of the office building). Upon entry, find the elevators and proceed from the lobby to the second floor where your host Joel will meet you.
Parking during the day is a challenge, visitors may park in the north or south (uncovered) lots or across the street.
ServeKC attire for this event is casual, we shall be in a medium sized conference room for the duration of the event. There is no need to bring supplies, just your enthusiasm and positive attitude. You are encouraged to bring any snacks or beverages of your choice.
If you have any questions, contact Joel Walk (your host) at his cell 913.709.6438
